A cutting-edge factory for processing palm oil and palm kernel oil will be built at Nkwantanum in the Central Region’s Upper Denkyira West District.
According to Mr. Richmond Koduah, the District Chief Executive (DCE), the vision serves as a springboard for the government’s implementation of the “Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD)” programme and industrialization.
He added that, the goal of the PERD project, which is a component of the “Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ)” programme, is to encourage sustainable growth and development of the agricultural sector within five years.
He said that the Assembly has obtained a 2.5-acre plot of land with completed designs and a business plan created for any public-private cooperation in order to draw in and keep investors.
The project is anticipated to receive a total investment of GHC 1,400,000.00, according to a feasibility assessment carried out by the Assembly.
In addition, the District regularly distributes oil palm seedlings under the PERD programme. The area is home to thousands of oil palm farms, especially in Nkronua and Abora.
The DCE claims that the Assembly was motivated by the fact that Ghana generated over 2,000,000 metric tonnes of oil palm fruits each year, and small-scale processors were responsible for producing roughly 60% of crude palm oil.
He indicated that the Assembly was committed to expanding the District’s exports of tree crops and developing a solid raw material base for industry in order to create wealth, especially in rural economies, and to create employment possibilities for young people.
