The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has revealed there would be a change in the rain fall pattern this years and is therefore advising farmers not to bank their hopes on nature as the planting season approaches
According to the Bono Regional Director of GMet, Mubarick Raj Salifu,” it would be risky for farmers to depend on rainfall this March”.
The Director told journalists that any farmer who will go contrary to this information is likely to run at a loss.
“The rains would not be enough to support planting. The soil needs enough water before it can sustain the seed for the crops to germinate and grow,” Mr. Mubarick Raj Salifu stated.
He therefore urged farmers who depend on rainfall to wait till the middle of March.
