The Ministry of Agriculture has disclosed that a total of 159 farms in the country has been affected by the bird flu outbreak.
This was made known by the Acting Director of the Veterinary Services Directorate, Dr. Abeka at a press conference organized by the Ministry of Information today, Wednesday, January 26, 2021.
According to him, ten out of the 16 regions in the country have been affected by the outbreak.
Again, he added that, 443,406 have died from the disease and 550,227 birds have been destroyed.
However, he said the Ministry of Agriculture is doing all within its capacity to curb the spread of the disease to prevent it from entering the rest of the regions.
“A total of 159 farms that have been affected and 443,406 birds have died from the disease and 550,227 birds have been destroyed by the Veterinary Services Department.”
Meanwhile, it has also been disclosed that the government has allocated an amount of GHS44 million to fight the outbreak.
Out of this amount, GHS20 million has been released to the ministry.
