Krowor MCE encourages children to own planted seedlings

Municipal Chief Executive of Krowor Joshua Nii Bortey has urged schoolchildren in the municipality to claim ownership of the plants they have planted.

He claimed that returning the environment to its former splendour was a shared responsibility and that schoolchildren had a significant part to play in it.

On Green Ghana Day last Friday, the MCE gave this speech to the students and faculty of Krowor SDA Junior High and Primary Schools.

He praised the teachers and students for their enthusiastic engagement in the activity and urged them to provide the seedlings with water and care so they could thrive, assuring them that the Krowor Municipal Assembly (KroMA) will keep a close eye on them to ensure their survival.

In order for the seedlings to grow, he stated, “it is our common responsibility to make sure that they are watered every day.”

Mr Nii Bortey expressed his happiness that 80% of the seedlings that the Assembly helped plant in the area a year ago had survived, reiterating the fact that 5,000 seedlings will also be planted this year.

When planting the seedlings at the schools with the MCE, the Municipal Education Director, Madam Justina Djaba, advised the instructors to help their students keep animals away from the plants.

Let’s try our best to prevent deforestation so that when the final tree dies, the last man also perishes, she remarked.
