Ghana Commodity Exchange and WeComm Agri-Media explore opportunities for partnership

The Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX) and WeComm Agri-Media Limited (WeComm) have held discussions to partner to drive more growth in the commodity space.

The partnership will see WeComm becoming a broker at the Ghana Commodity Exchange to trade. The company aims to trade commodities for themselves and other partners on the exchange in order to promote the growth of the commodities exchange. WeComm has also expressed commitment to partner the GCX on projects and programmes aimed at promoting and growing the exchange.

The Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX) is an electronic marketplace, for the buying and selling of commodities under set rules.

Regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission, GCX strives to transform Ghana’s agricultural economy by creating more bargaining power for smallholder farmers, providing accurate and reliable market & price information,  access to secured storage, increased access to markets and increased penetration of credit and agricultural financing. At the same time, buyers enjoy lower transaction costs and the overall market benefits from increased efficiency.

WeComm Agri-media and Consultancy Limited is an Agribusiness, PR, Marketing, and Communications firm that supports agribusinesses to strategically develop sustainable solutions to drive growth. WeComm is also a leader in marketing communications and public relations for leading agribusiness in Ghana.

In 2021, WeComm launched the innovative Nserewa Project, which crowdfunded to invest in 1000 acres of soya and 1000 acres of maize at the Babator Farming Company.

The partnership with GCX shall ensure WeComm is able to trade the huge volumes of commodities they produce from Nserewa and the various agricultural production schemes they run with partners.

Speaking after conferring with the leadership of GCX, the General Manager of Wecomm, Kojo Akoto Boateng said the partnership will enable the business serve sponsors better and also make commodities available to boost trade.

“This partnership means that WeComm will now be trading their produce at a premium rate and also have the access to a wider market. This move ensures another level of security for investors of Nserewa and our various outgrowers across the country,” he said.

The CEO of GCX, Mrs. Tucci Goka Ivowi, expressed her pleasure to partner with WeComm Agri-media. She encouraged other firms and companies to also come on board to ensure the growth and sustainability of the agribusiness chain in Ghana.
