Basic tools for effective backyard gardening

The new year comes with new hopes and targets, and as gardeners we need to organise the right tools for effective production.

This year, you must aspire to grow the basic veggies, herbs and spices you consume at home. To do this, you need to invest in the tools that will enable you manage activities such as watering, pruning, composting etc.

We have rounded up essential gardening tools you need to get started on your new planting season plus helpful tips that can make gardening easier.

1. Watering can
A lightweight portable container, with a handle and a funnel, watering can, is a must-have for everyday gardening task. Water plants early in the morning when temperatures are cooler. Avoid midday watering, which will evaporate too quickly. The regular sizes of watering cans allows even children to use it without any problem, it is a good choice for children and family, this allows them experience the joy of planting together.

2. Gardening gloves
To make gardening more comfortable, get a warm pair of gardening Gloves, that will help prevent blisters and scratches. And keep your hands clean. You should consider other qualities like
waterproofing ability, it should be soft, flexible and environmentally-friendly. Always consider your hand size when buying the gloves. A good way to wash your gardening gloves is with soap and water while wearing them under the tap.
